INFANTS, WADDLERS, & TODDLERS

Infants (6 weeks to 1 year old)

In our Infant room, it is our goal to provide a safe and nurturing environment that encourages exploration and growth. Our infant to teacher ratio is 1 teacher to 3 infants. Each teacher is responsible for 3 children and will become their Primary Care Teacher.

The purpose of Primary Care Teachers is to ensure that each child’s needs for intimacy and safety are met thereby fostering trust in adults and enhancing the positive emotional and social development of the child. Our infant teachers work together as a team to make sure all of the children in their classrooms needs are being met promptly. Each day a daily sheet will be sent home that documents all of the child’s feedings, diaper changes, napping times, and milestones. Infant’s schedules are on demand.

Our teachers have many wonderful activities for our infants. Activities include many different opportunities that lead to new experiences and the beginning of learning. Teachers take advantage of caregiving “moments” during diaper changes and feeding times to talk, coo, sing, and interact with them. Teachers organize their rooms to provide new adventures which will foster motor, cognitive, language, and social development.

Waddlers (1 year old)

In our Waddler room they begin to drink from a sippy cup, take one nap a day and walk steadily on their own. Teachers work closely with the parents when transiting from one room to the next, making sure that this transition is as smooth as possible. We understand all children develop at their own pace, so transitioning may take longer for some.

Our Waddler to teacher ratio is 1 teacher to 4 children. Each teacher is responsible for 4 children and will become their Primary Care Teacher. The purpose of Primary Care Teachers is to ensure that each child’s needs for intimacy and safety are met thereby fostering trust in adults and enhancing the positive emotional and social development of the child.

The Toddler room has a specific schedule that is followed and is always posted for the parents to see. Please understand groups of toddlers can be very unpredictable and schedules may tend to vary. Daily schedules include meals, diapering/potty time, circle times, art projects, story time, center time and outdoor time. The teachers plan activities that encourage socialization, large motor, fine motor, language, emotional, and cognitive skills.
